Repairs & Replacements

To start, It is ideal if you don’t wait until you see any of these issues before getting an inspection on your roof. We recommend that you get an inspection every 3-4 years to stay ahead of any issues. However, we do realize sometimes it can’t be helped, and we’re here to help no matter what situation you’re currently in. So below we have listed the top 4 things we think you should be aware of when it comes to repairs and replacements, and what that might mean for you.

If You Have Any Leaks.

Leaks can be tricky. Depending on the size of the leak; your home may already be past the point of needing repairs. For example, if it’s a small leak, it is possible you can have it patched, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the issue is fixed. On the other hand, if it’s a big leak, it may be time to replace the roof all together at that point. Also, this greatly increases the chances of mold and mildew developing; which can lead to health concerns for you and your family. So, not only does it put your family in danger, but it raises the cost to fix your home, while doing.

If Your Roof Is of Age.

A roof life expectancy can be anywhere from 15 to 30 years depending on the quality, durability and type of material chosen. If you’re starting to have significant issues and your roof is nearing its expiration date, it may be time to set up an inspection, to find out if a repair will take care of the problem or if it’s time to invest in a new one.

The Type of Damage Your Roof Has.

A recent storm with high winds, or falling debris can lead to missing shingles, which can be handled with a simple repair. However, if there appears to be discoloration, curling or brittle shingles that’s another story. The presence of moss and algae, is also a red flag, and a new roof may be the solution for you. Of course it can get even worse than that; for example the spread of granules and sinking of the foundation are clear signs that it might be time to plan for a new roof.

Getting The Right Contractor for The Job.

When it comes to something as important as your home, you do not want to put yourself or your family at risk. If a new installation is not properly done due to poor workmanship, this may cause you to need a repair way sooner than expected; or worst-case scenario, you may even need a whole new roof! So, making sure to work with an expert is top-priority. Look specifically for an expert that is: licensed and insured, offers a warranty, and maybe even offers references will help you avoid a headache later.

Keep in mind that these four tips are just a snapshot of some issues you can look for before reaching out to an expert. Of course, once an inspection is done we will be able to identify what the issues are and provide the solution to the problem.
